Marty Conley, born and raised in Ohio, took up the trumpet at age 14 and made music his life’s work. After traveling much of the world as a career Navy musician, Master Chief Petty Officer (Ret.) Conley managed advanced bandleader and arranging programs at the Armed Forces School of Music in Little Creek, Va. for over 12 years. He then “retired” to the thriving 1970’s show bands of Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe, playing lead trumpet for top artists including Lou Rawls, Mel Torme, and Doc Severinson. Upon “retiring” again to San Diego, Marty assumed leadership of TheBigBandExpress, where he has played lead trumpet and arranged music prolifically for 15 years. Marty resides in Santee with his wife Dolores.
